When Surf City Church and The Well at Surf City came together under Spirit Station, we became stronger as a faith family and God has blessed it. But now we believe that through prayer God was speaking to us and said that in this time of our churches life that we are experiencing new birth, becoming a new creation and that with that a new name was needed to move forward together. As One Accord Church we can move forward with purpose and boldness.

• Why One Accord Church?

o The phrase “working as one accord” kept coming up in our discussion. We began to look up the meaning of one accord and find bible verses that mentioned one accord (on the back of this page). We began praying and felt the Lord call us to the new name of One Accord Church.

 

o The bible speaks of “one accord” in several places. Often in the context of unity, agreement and shared purpose among believers. Key verses are Acts 2:1 which describes the dsiciples being “with one accord in one place” on the day of Pentecost. Other verses like Phillippians 2:2 and Romans 15:6 highlight the importance of being “like minded, having the same love and being of one accord” to glorify God. Over all the concept emphasizes the power and blessing that comes from believers uniting in purpose, prayer and action. Other key verses Acts 2:46, Acts 4:24,

 

• Why the Change?

o We have an identity crisis. Are we SCC? The Well? Spirit Station? It was confusing to us that belong to the church how much more confusing is it to those that join our church? With a new name we can establish a new identity, mission statement and values that we as a faith family can all be apart of. It will no longer be us or them but all of us under the banner of One Accord Church.

 

• Why not use Spirit Station as our name?

o Spirit Station was a great name for the period of time that SCC was in their legal battle. It brought us together and we are forever thankful for that. Moving forward we felt it is not the right fit for our faith family and was confusing to many who heard the name.

 

• Will Robinwood Church (The Well) and Surf City Church continue to exist?

o Yes. The corporate names will remain. One Accord Church is the DBA of Surf City Church and Robinwood church (aka The Well at Surf City).

 

• When can we start using the name One Accord Church?

o Now! Both SCC and The Well’s Trustee boards voted unanimously to adopt the name One Accord Church. We will have temporary signage up starting Sunday September 28th.

 

• Who do we give our tithes and donations to?

o At this time, you will continue to give to either Spirit Station, SCC or The Well. Once we have the bank accounts set up for One Accord Church you will be notified and can start donating. Please continue to donate as your tithes and offerings are helping us with our operating expenses and mission work.

 

• What are the next steps?

o We are working on a new logo. Once we have our new logo, we will update our printed material (connection cards and offering envelopes.)

o We are updating our social media platforms (FB, IG & YouTube)

o We are creating a new website.

o We will get new bank accounts and update our giving platform.

 

• When will this be completed?

o Our goal is to have everything completed by November 1st.
